ncRNA name | hsa-miR-21 |
ncRNA Category | miRNA |
Disease name | choroidal neovascularization (CNV) |
Species | Homo sapiens |
Tissues/Cell_line | human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) |
Methods | Taqman assay, transfection, Boyden chamber migration assay, Scratch wound migration assay, BrdU incorporation assay, qRT-PCR, Western blot, luciferase reporter assay, isolectin-B4 staining |
Expression pattern | down-regulated |
Functional description | Our results identify miR-21 as a new angiogenesis inhibitor and suggest that inhibition of cell migration and tubulogenesis is mediated through repression of RhoB. The therapeutic potential of miR-21 as an angiogenesis inhibitor was demonstrated in vivo in a mouse model of choroidal neovascularization. |
